It all started out on Saturday morning, just when we were about to leave the home for the park, papa felt that my body was abit warm and decided to test my temp- true enough I was having a fever at 38.3. Initially they thought it was just normal fever and decided to monitor me but my temp wen up to 38.5 so they had to give me paracetamol. After which I had a nap and woke up for lunch by which, temp had wen down abit. I didn't finish my lunch and wanted to be carried but I was still active .
Coincidentally that weekend mummy had plans to bring papa for a 1 nite stay at the amara sanctuary at sentosa to celebrate his birthday, they thought I would be fine so they left in the late afternoon after putting me to sleep. However when mummy called grandma up to check on me in the evening grandma said my temp wen up to 39 after I woke up from my nap and I had no appetite for dinner and was cranky. Even after taking paracetamol my temp still didn't manage to go down much, Mummy told grandma to monitor my temp closely and before I sleep if temp was still high above 38.5 to insert suppository to bring the temp down. Papa and mummy decided to head home that night after dinner instead of staying over even tho according to grandma I had finally pooed and temp was below 37.5.
All was well till around 130am when papa noticed that I kept jerking my body and my legs would extd out straight. Papa tried to comfort me but I started to cry, papa than alerted mummy and she carried me in upright position and kept massaging my back/feet and hands, cos my hands and feet were very cold. Mummy told papa that I could be jerking cos I was shivering and maybe the fever is high - the last time ard 3 mths old I also had the same reaction. Immed Papa measured my temp and it had shot up to 40! Without hesitation they both agreed to bring me to KKH.
So off we wen, by the time we reached KKH my temp wen down abit and I could still respond to mummy and was still conscious. Lucky for us we didnt have to wait to see the doc cos for high fever cases they will send you straight to see the doc. I was immed given paracetamol to bring down my temp, which I took w/o any protest. After that we had to do a blood test as well as urine test for early detection of infection - basically find the cause of my nasty fever. Ooh blood test was painful but not as painful as the last time at the horrible clinic. Than came the urine test, the bag was pasted down there and we had to wait till I pee. Unfortunately its not that easy to collect the urine and the bag kept dropping, so after 1 hr Papa asked the doc if we could go home to collect and return it. Dr said yes just need to bring it back w/n 2 hrs, and at the same time blood test results were out and Dr says theres was no infection. We were told to monitor my temp and should I still have fever after day5 to come back for re-test. The consolation for mummy and papa was that even though I was having high fever I was still able to laugh and even walk around the hospital. Reached home ard 530am and went back to sleep, after I woke up papa brought me to the toliet to wash up and got me to pee so mummy could collect the pee in the container, I did w/o a fuss. They sent the urine for test and it came back negative.
The next 2 days my fever still lingered and mostly above 38 so i had to take paracetamol 4-5hrs and alternate with brufen. So u can imagine my appetite and mood was affected; didn't wan to eat or drink my milk, once my temp was high I wanted to be carried. But luckily I still took lots of water/juice as well as fruits, rice crackers and some bread.
On Mon both mummy and papa took leave and brought me to see Dr Heng just to get a second opinion. He checked me and told them it was viral fever and most likely by wed rashes should appear when the fever subsides. Tues was Papa's birthday but we stayed at home cos my fever still around, but the intervals to taking the meds was longer (showing signs of recovery) and I didnt have to take brufen. By night time mummy noticed some rashes on my face and told papa about it and hope that its the end of my fever. Wed I still had slight fever and more rash on my face, by afternoon I stopped taking my med and the fever subsided with more rashes appearing on my body. So my fever lasted for 5 days and day 6 I have have rashes all over.
What a week and 'memorable' Birthday for Papa! Mummy jus prays for all of us to have good health!! And asks how to boost immunity??? Gah!!
Fever strikes me...
So tired I need a rest on the floor
Rashes on my face - Yee so ugly I dun wan to see...
