Taiwan Day 2 - Taoyuan - Hsinchu Leofoo Village

Since this trip was mainly for the kids, I made sure we included a visit to the local theme park.  We made a trip to Leofoo Village Theme Park in Hsinchu (South of Taipei).  The journey by car took us about an hour from Taoyuan; 2 hours if you’re from Taipei.   We also took the opportunity to stay at Leofoo Resort Guanshi which is unique for its wild life safari theme.  Since it was too early to check into the rooms (check in time for the resort is 4pm), the resort helped to process our reservations and gave us our theme park tickets.  The resort had a shuttle to the theme park, but since we had our own car we drove straight to the park.  It was a weekday, and we found the park relatively quiet- good for us because there were no queues and we could take the rides multiple times if we liked.

It is the first fantasy world in Asia that combines both Amusement Park and Safari.  Leofoo Village Theme Park has four theme areas, “Wild West”, “South Pacific”, “Arabian Kingdom” and “African Safari”.  Other than rides and thrilling roller coasters they also had an animal zoo at the African Safari area, where we took the Nairobi Express train, and sky bicycle to view the wild animals closely.  Hazel was the happiest and most enthusiastic about the rides.  She was able to sit on most rides except for the adults only ride.  She tried the roller coaster as well as the volcano ride (picture above). Jasper also had his share of fun as there were many rides he could also take.  We managed to cover all four theme areas within the day.  Who knew Taiwan had Theme Parks which are actually fun and affordable.  For more theme parks you in Taiwan you can check: http://www.themeparks.net.tw/eng/index.asp.
Leofoo Village Theme Park
Opening Hours: 0900 – 1800 (Summer)
Ticket Price: NT$999 (Adults) and NT$499 (Children 100-120cm), Free for Children under 100cm.

Leofoo Resort Guanshi is situated beside the Leofoo village theme park.  I had booked a package via agoda.com which included 1 nights stay at the beautiful safari theme resort, including breakfast and dinner and 2 tickets to the theme park, we only needed to get an extra child ticket.  Overall the resort was a good experience for the family, for city folks like us, waking up to see wild animals at your window is just “WOW”.  The children were more than happy to see the animals up close, at the end of the stay both declared they like the Giraffes best.  Breakfast and dinner included a good selection of international and local Taiwanese food.  Throughout the day the resort also organises several activities which we didn’t participate due to time constraint.  We only caught the African dance performance from the night entertainment.
